Big and bold, the playground bully of the scotch egg quest. With a thick rim of sausage meat, Union Market’s offering is a rustic, chunky entry, with a generous layer of breadcrumbs on the outer-casing protecting a soft egg inside. I ate it cold which highlighted more of the sausage flavour and toughened the meat more than the other warm scotch eggs I’ve tried. There was no melting sensation as with some of the others, but this hefty scotch egg, cut in half and looking as large as coconut shells, stood its ground with a considerate balance of ingredients.
