The M&S scotch egg was another beefy entry with a thick, but soft, breadcrumb casing and lined with peppered sausage meat. The seasoned meat giving a slight lift of spice to enhance the flavour. Once cut in half, it had a dry texture (due to its packaging?) and therefore it’s difficult to compare alongside the other fresher scotch eggs I’ve tried in pubs and restaurants. The egg itself was firm and tasty without the rubbery makeup of some other supermarket contenders.
